Shared Assets is a think and do tank working to create a socially just future through practical projects that build new relationships between people and the land.
They work with communities, landowners, researchers and activists to create a world where our relationship to the land is based on stewardship, evidence and justice. Their consultancy work supports the practical creation of new business and governance models for land that create shared social, environmental and economic benefits.
They required a completely redesigned brand logo, brand assets and UI and UX design for their website.
Shared Assets approached Studio Graphene needing a new brand representative of their updated strategic positioning.
We started the design process by researching and understanding what Shared Assets was all about as an organisation. The sector in which they operate was so broad including pretty much every aspect of land management and usage.
Our goal was to creatively represent the entirety of their offering, as well as develop a scalable brand system for current and future use.
During our research phase we ran workshops with the Shared Assets team where we set challenges for them to think about how we could move towards compartmentalising aspects of their key organisational offering within 3 core sub sectors (research, consultancy and movement building) and then consequently collaboratively grouping all the associated and relevant content available on the website within each sub sector.
With this clarity of approach in place we then explored a range of colours that could be used together visually to represent each sub sector. We eventually settled on a green, burgundy and orange with the idea that these colours connect both the urban and natural environment. We also added an aerial shot feel utilising a number of different shapes to all brand imagery designed to create a modern, fresh and dynamic look and feel.

We worked with Shared Assets to redesign their logo, brand assets for social media and created a style guide for any future branding requirements. We overhauled their website visually and from a UX perspective, prioritising accessibility and a clear navigation for different audiences - from local authorities to land activists - we designed and built a striking and powerful new site that inspires collective action for a new future of land in the UK.
